My work ranges from small encaustic panels to larger mixed media pieces on canvas using acrylics, oils and encaustics. Much of my commissioned work for churches and homes is biblical in nature.

Barbara Fisher's mixed media paintings incorporate her personal vocabulary of iconic forms, glyphs and objects into mysterious landscape-like spaces. The relationships between these elements are mysterious and dynamic, and they result in a new and strangely harmonious reality.

I moved to Asheville in May and got religion this summer--I fell in love with the French Broad River! My recent art relates back to it---with a wide definition. Come see oil riverscapes, large watercolor wildlife, French Broads, berets, and scarves to adorn them!
For the past 20 years, I have written and illustrated children's books, and visited schools based in Southern California. Three of my books are available at the studio.
I am delighted to be in Asheville and the Warehouse Studios. Come visit!

In addition to capturing the imagery and emotional resonance of the kitchen, I try to use my memories of the strong coastal light and rich lowcountry colors I grew up with to create mood and feeling in my paintings. As with cooking, vitality and freshness are the qualities I most strive to achieve in my work.
