"AFTER"
 Benjamin M. Betsalel, 2009
 acrylic on canvas
 4 x 6 feet

After... I return from many months living abroad I submerge myself into
the studio. Surrounded by large canvas and paint, I work intensely,
experementing with and expressing the many new thoughts and feelings
experienced while abroad or upon arrival.

Though "After" is along the same line as my previous work from my "Weather
or Not" series, I have also been making large-scale portraits which
combine qualities from both the previous portrait paintings and the more
abstracted, spacial elements within the "Weather or Not" work.

New work will be updated to the site this fall, keep an eye out!

My bowls have the incredible ability to "sing" - by circling the lip with a wooden mallet this beautiful resonating tone fills the room and is even felt in the body.  They are amazing!  "Prayer" bowls are typically made out of metal or crystal, my bowls are some of the only ones in the world that are made from clay.  They are used for meditation and healing and are extremely calming.  To find out more, go to my website on IcreateIam.com

In a world of sameness, Hofman Studios offers you something truly unique. I invite you to visit our gallery and working studio to view the varied selection of handbuilt porcelain we offer for your enjoyment. Each piece of pottery is made using antique lace, some centuries old, to create objects that will be cherished for generations to come. Using the materials that nature has provided, we formulate glazes that dress each piece in a skin of dazzling colors. Colors that often mimic precious gems, stones and weathered metals.

Whether it is a vase, serving piece or a complete dinner set Hofman Studios will add an understated elegance to any setting. Beauty can be a part of everything you do, let us help you, live life artfully.

Barbara Perez sculpts portraits and memorials in clay for individuals and groups. These are either fired or can be cast in bronze. She also creates organic, sensual sculptures and functional objects in clay, then fires them with lush, flowing glazes. This same luxuriance of color and nature-related form is found in her pastel paintings.

The Wedge :: 119A Roberts St. :: Clayspace Co-op

As a studio potter, I work diligently to make well-crafted wares for everyday people. It’s seemingly less about the “ritual of the table” and more about respecting a long tradition of craftsmen before me and discovering my own voice. The combination of three-dimensional forms and two-dimensional drawings was a natural fusion of both my love of drawing and pottery, art and craft. It is my intention to bring together clear and abstract markings to engage the viewer to look closely at how design relates to the form of the pot.
