The perfection of the natural world is the springboard for my clay art work. For many years I have been richly inspired and continuously mesmerized by the world of insects. The more that I investigate, the more beautiful and profound this fascinating and tragically villainized
world becomes. My art work is a reflection of the intricate, interconnected, intriguing and lively world of our insect relations. My most recent work "The Balancing Beetle Series" pays homage to the delicate balance that we (humans) strike with the world of insects. Creatures that we depend on (be it unknowingly) for our very survival.

Moving from the status of an employee of the River District to an artist of the community has shown an amazing correlation to the nature of my work. Taking a needed break, I visit the garden of Pattiy Torno's here at Curve Studio or Clingman Cafe for a good cup of java.  The use of the old industries playing a part in the creation of the garden or the defiant strength of a wild plant breaking through concrete and steel as I pass the railroad tracks sends me gracefully back into the studio and a link to the piece I'm working on.

New this year, the Onyx and Turquoise line.

Most of my pottery is inspired in part by the human figure and the interaction between pieces in a set is an important component in my work. My background as a printmaker also comes through in some of the patterns that I apply in the use of slip and a black underglaze. I am also fascinated by the repetition of patterns that follow the shape of the pot and give texture to the glaze.
